Host: Can I break-up with someone by phone or email?
Toni Coleman: Again, if this is a relationship where you have been dating for a while, the idea of breaking up even though people tell me all the time that this is how they get broken up with. The idea of breaking-up with somebody by email or by phone just sounds like one of those, I don't care about your feelings. I don't want to hear what you have to say,. I just don't want to deal with it. It really feels that way and if you think about what that's like for the person who is being broken up with. This is going to be hard enough, but that sort of cancels out whatever was in this relationship and leaves somewhere the sense that there never was anything.
This person never really cared about them, that they are not even worth the time or the energy to sit down and really talk about what happened. It also just not allow them to get any sense of closure to ask any questions. So I would say that it's a very -- rude doesn't even really cover it. It's a very insensitive and actually cowardly way to end a relationship and males often get label this for ones they do this and they do it a certain percentage of the time, but women have also been known to take the easy way out and just send an email and be done with it.
