In this video learn how to make a spooky pumpkin melt. Your kids will reach for this smart snack instead of candy this Halloween.

Ariana Almajan: Let's have some fun and put together a wholesome snack your kids will love.

Nothing sets Halloween more than a scary jack-o'-lantern. Here is a fun pumpkin melt snack idea to get your kids into the Halloween spirit. You're going to need kraft singles, slice of bread, celery and a round cookie cutter.

Now, you like whole wheat bread, right?

    Boy: Uh Huh!

Ariana Almajan: Right. So that's why I'm using that. But you can use any kind of bread that you want. First thing is you're going to cut the bread sliced into a circle to create the pumpkin shape. Nice! I like your form.

The next step is the fun part making the pumpkin face. So first, using a large round cookie cutter or knife, cut a circle in the cheese slice. Perfect!

For the pumpkin face you can get as creative as you want to here and make a traditional face or maybe even something scary. Let your kids decide what they want their pumpkin to be. So do you want something scary or do you want more of like the regular standard?

    Boy: Scary.

Ariana Almajan: You want scary. All right! Well, let's make the eyes. Eyes are always triangles, right.

    Boy: Uh huh!

Ariana Almajan: Okay. When working with sharp knives, adult supervision is a must. So be sure to help your child cut out the pumpkin face. Should he have a nose?

    Boy: Uh Huh!

Ariana Almajan: Okay, then we'll do the same thing.

    Boy: Small one.

Ariana Almajan: Small one right. So we want like a jaggedy mouth, right because that's scary. I'm just kind of doing a little -- trying to give him teeth. Scary?

    Boy: Uh Huh!

Ariana Almajan: All right! Once the face is cut, place the cheese slice on top of the bread. Exactly, there he is. Then you're going to place it in the microwave or the toaster oven. Now I like to use the toaster oven because it melts the cheese and toasts the bread, so it's just that perfect consistency. But you want to watch it because you don't want it to burn. After the cheese has melted remove it from the toaster over to cool.

For the finishing touch, add a small piece of celery to the top to create the stock. So you just got to cut a slice like that and then just in half, just to get that little green stock at the top.

And there you have it, a fun, smart Halloween snack your kids will enjoy making and eating. It looks scary right?

    Boy: Uh Huh!

    Ariana Almajan: All right.

    Ariana Almajan: Happy Halloween!

    Boy: Happy Halloween!
