Costume-Ready Body Tips for Halloween

    Fitness expert John Basedow shares his tips for getting into shape for a form fitting Halloween costume.

    John Basedow: Hey guys! I am John Basedow and I have some little Halloween tricks to help you get into that sexy witch costume so you don't have to be the dumpy pumpkin.

    Number one, stay hydrated. A lot of times that we think we are hungry we're actually just dehydrated. So drink water, especially before a meal have a glass of water and you will be surprised how much less you will eat at that meal.

    Number two is morning cardio. Your fat cells are most vulnerable, first thing in the morning and your insulin levels and your blood sugar levels are low and stable. It's when your body can best access fat stores for energy.

    Number three: stick with natural foods. If it's made by man, don't put it in your mouth. Eat clean especially the week before Halloween.

    Number four: think nibble and sip, don't gorge and gulp. Even if you are having something you are craving, have a bite or two of it, but don't have the whole bag of M&Ms.

    Number five: my favorite mental trick. Do your ab exercises at night. When I do my ab exercises I am always touching my stomach as I am contracting my abs to keep the mind-muscle connection. That also helps me eat cleaner during the day and also stick to my other exercise program, because I know I don't want to be pushing through an extra layer of fat or water later that night. So I eat more cleanly during the day.

    Follow those five simple tricks and you will be a treat this Halloween.
