David Rizzo: It's called Trip-Chaining and this is how you can cut down on your trips. Plan ahead, plan to combine as many trips as possible. It affects gas mileage in more ways than you think, first of all you don't have to backtrack when you plan your trips but secondly cold starts are the worst things for gas mileage. When your car is cold and you fire it up it takes a lot of gasoline to get it up to speed, up to temperature. For one thing Catalytic Converters only operate at high temperature. So you are using a lot of gas. So you want to combine trips and the best way to do it is to plan ahead, thing about where you are going, look at a map and I am big believer about this, look in at a map, a GPS device won't plan trips for you, you have to do it in head, but it's not that hard, just think about where you are going, doing it in a nice circle as opposed to back and forth and back and forth. Trip-Chaining.
