Marylou Teitz: Hi, I am Marylou Teitz with Lamaze International and I am showing you how to diaper your baby. Right now I am going to show you how to clean the diaper area. Begin by taking the front of the diaper and gently slide from the front to back, gently moving through the diaper area and trying to incorporate as much as the ball moving into the diaper as possible for easy disposal. You can grasp the baby's ankles and lift as you continue to wipe and roll the ball movement into the diaper for easy disposal.
Then take a baby wipe, a wash cloth or some moisten cotton balls to clean the area further. Gently move from front to back always going into the folds very gently, lifting the baby's bottom by grasping the ankles and making sure you get all sides of your baby's bottom in diaper area.
Take a moment to let the baby's bottom air dry or plat dry with some dry cotton balls. So that is how we clean the baby's diaper area. Now we ready to check for diaper rash.
