Beth Bates: Hi, my name is Beth Bates and I an interior seamstress with the company SewTeacher, at SewTeacher.
com. Today, I will be teaching you how to sew your own custom Christmas tree skirt using your choice of decorative fabrics. We will show you everything from cutting the fabric, sewing the outer edge of the skirt together with the lining, making cuts for the inner circle, sewing the inner circle, turning it inside out and pressing and sewing the opening closed.
Before we begin, let us go ahead and gather our supplies. For this project you will need a sewing machine that performs the straight stitch. You will need stick pins, a hot iron, flexible measuring tape or some household strings, some sharp scissors used only for cutting fabric and some a yard and a half of lining and a yard and a half of decorator fabric. Some options that you may wish to use would be some decorator trims and some fringe adhesive, which is available at your local craft store and some general sewing knowledge would be helpful for this video.
A quick word about safety is whenever you are using a hot iron or sharp objects such as scissors or pins, you need to use extreme caution and if children are doing this project with you, please make sure they are supervised at all times. So before we begin, let me tell you little bit about myself.
