Seamstress Beth Bates demonstrates how to make a tablecloth.

Beth Bates: Hi, I am Beth Bates with Today, I am going to teach you how to make a tablecloth. Some of the things we will go over is determining your length and your width, the cutting and the measuring, the sewing and in last pinning the tablecloth together.

Before we begin, let's go over some of the tools you will need. The first thing you need of course is your fabric and your lining, a sewing machine, a sharp pair of scissors used only for fabric, some stick pins, a measuring tape, a pencil and some optional things would be a seam ripper and perhaps a pair of snips. You are also going to want a metal ruler with a right angle on the end and now a quick word about safety.

Whenever you are using sharp things such as pins and needles and scissors take great care not to cut yourself and small children should be supervised in projects such as these. So let's go ahead and get started on how to sew a tablecloth. As in all my instructional DVDs I will not use any confusing language or patterns. Just follow along in some quick easy steps and before you know it you will have a custom tablecloth perfect for your table.
