Krista Heinz: Hi! My name is Krista Heinz and I am the owner of Doggie Style Bakery Boutique and Pet Spa and today I am going to teach you how to make your own dog food. We are going to go over the basic ingredients, the vegetables, the grains, the meats and putting it all together and getting it ready to serve your pet. There isn't much that you will need to get started. You will need a stove, a sharp, knife a cutting board, a soup pot and the ingredients that you choose to put into your dogs food. Let's talk a little bit about the safety. As you know, we are working in a kitchen with some sharp knife and a stove; so we want to make sure that we keep the pets and any children away from what we are doing. Also, I wanted to talk a little bit about the safety to your pet, while you are making their own food. You want to make sure that when you start making your dog food that you mix it with their old diet. You want to watch your dog, maybe even get him check up with a veterinarian before you start. Watch their weight, their activity level and their digestive system, while you are feeding them on a new diet. There are a lot of new elements going into their food at this point and you want to make sure that you're watching your dogs to make sure that they stay healthy while you are changing their diet. Just to tell you a little bit about myself, I am the owner of the Doggy Style Bakery Boutique and Pet Spa in Dupont Circle. Since 2002, we've been making treats and foods for dogs that are made with all natural human grade ingredients. Our idea was that we would provide a better alternative to those commercially made pet foods that are on the market. Now, our treats are sold nationally through pet boutiques across the country that are focussed on providing a better alternative for your pets. Now let's get started.
