How To Make Pierogy Ravioli & Meatballs

    Diane Vezza with Mrs. T’s Pierogies shows how to prepare pierogies with meatballs for a twist on a classic.

    Diane Vezza: Hi I am Dianne, professional recipe developer, food stylist and mom. Today I am working with Mrs. T's Pierogies and I am going to show you how to boil pierogies.

    First start with a medium sauce pan, fill it with water and heat to boiling. When the water boils, add your pierogies. You can use any flavor that you like.

    The pierogies are cooked when they float up to the top, that's six to eight minutes. And once they've floated to the top drain them well.

    Now I am going to show you a quick and easy way to use our boiled pierogies. We are making pierogies and meatballs today. First we start with a pound of ground beef; you can use ground turkey if you like.

    We add one egg, one quarter cup of seasoned Italian breadcrumbs and one teaspoon salt. This gets mixed together, until everything is incorporated, Roll your meat mixture into one and a half inch balls, take some vegetable oil and put it in medium sauce pan, heat the sauce pan in medium high.

    Cook the meatballs until they are golden brown on all sides, stirring occasionally. When they are nice and brown, we move them to a plate and repeat with the other meatballs. Now we are going to use them in our pierogi and meatball recipe.

    Heat the meatballs in the marinara sauce until they are boiling hot. Simply pour them on your cooked pierogies and toss them together, sprinkle with parmesan cheese and some chopped parsley, ready to serve.
