Anne Wilterdink Morgan: Hello, my name is Anne Wilterdink Morgan. I am style maker, otherwise know as an Image Consultant, affiliated with Beauty by Genique. I was trained and certified by Beauty for All Seasons in 1990. Today I have my own business, Color and Image Insight and also teach adult education. I am a graduate of Cornell University. Today, I am in the offices of Dr. Davidson, Brown and Adam in Springfield, Virginia and I am going to show you how to pick the best eyeglass frames for you. It can be a real challenge to choose eyeglasses, especially if you cant see what you are doing. If you can wear contact lenses that will help a great a deal but still the selection can seem overwhelming. I am going to help you learn how to choose your eyeglasses confidently without trying every pair on in the store. When selecting eyewear, you want to make sure that it fits properly, that is harmonizes with your coloring and that it balances your face shape as well as your features. I am going to address each of those issues with you. In the process, hopefully you will learn a little something that you can apply to the rest of your wardrobe. To get started all you really need is an up-to-date prescription and a good mirror. So lets get ready and learn how to look your best by choosing the perfect eyewear for you. Were going to start by talking about getting your best fit.
This is Terry and she is going to be helping us demonstrate today. So, the first thing you want to make sure when choosing any new eyeglasses is, as the eyes are centered properly in the lenses. So Terry lets try this frame to start with. As you can see, its a little bit narrow. Notice that her eyes seem to more to the outside of the lenses, so those are not the proper frame for her. Now, this is something that any good optician is going to insist on also. So lets try another frame. Okay, her eyes are little bit more centered now but as you notice, the frames are wider than her face is. So thats the second element that you need to consider. The over all size of the glasses, the sides of the frames need to match up with sides of her face. So lets try another one. Its better but its still a little bit large. Okay, here I think we have got the fit right as far as thats concerned. The eyes are properly centered. The sides of the glasses match-up with the sides of her face. But one more thing I would like to point out is you want to make sure that the top of the frame flows nicely with the shape of the eyebrow. Here you can see a very straight top of the frame where her eyebrows are more arched. Okay lets try one more pair. Okay, I think weve got the fit right this time. Notice her eyes are properly centered in the lenses of the glasses. The sides of the glasses are the same where there are sides of her face. Furthermore the shape of the top of the lens matches the top of her eyebrows and they have a nice flow together. Can you see how much better that works? Now you know that glasses are available in different sizes and most good opticians will help you select the right size for your glasses. If you find a pair in which everything else is correct but the size is a little bit off. However if you have a particularly wide face or if your face is really small, you may have to choose a different pair of glasses accordingly. So thats how to choose the best fit for your glasses.
