Professional ski instructor Robin Shudak discusses what to consider before teaching your child to ski.

Robin Shudak: Hi, I am Robin Shudak, a ski instructor at Sn Mountain. Sn Mountain is a year around resort located outside at Scranton, Pennsylvania. Today, we are going to go over the basics of teaching your child to ski. Well, before we get started, let me tell you a little bit about myself. In addition to learning to ski here when I was 11, I have also been an instructor since 1999. This video will go over all the things you should know to make sure that your child has a fun first day on the slope and thus, lay the foundation for a lifetime of great skiing. It will cover equipment and clothing plus basic moves such as gliding, turning, and stopping. It will also tell you a little bit about riding the lift and concluded with a bit on safety. But before we get started let me stress that safety in skiing is very, very important. Never push a child to do anything that they are afraid of doing or that they are uncomfortable doing. It is a skier's responsibility to always ski in control and that's the first lesson that you need to know. So let's get started.
