Bridget Speiser of the Washington Humane Society discusses the real differences between types of cats.

Host: Isn't a cat just a cat? Are there real differences?

Bridget Speiser: There are very real differences cat to cat to cat. Certainly there are preconceived notions about cats being very independent or cats being sort of wild hunters, any numbers of preset notions, but just like any other animal, any other species each cat has his own individual personality. Some breeds have characteristics that are known to them. I guess that Siamese for example are known to be very vocal, so that is the characteristic that runs through that breed but again, cat to cat to cat you will find that there are distinct differences and distinct personalities.
