Karen James Chopra: Hi, I am Karen James Chopra. I am career counselor on private practice in Washington DC and today we are going to talk about how to negotiate a salary. Before I get started, I would like to tell you a little bit about my background. I started out in my career as a trade negotiator working for the Federal Government. It has been a decade doing that. So I have some experience with negotiations. Then I decided to go back to school and become a career counselor. So I got a Masters Degree in community counseling from George Washington University. I am now a licensed professional counselor in the District of Columbia and I am also a Master Career Counselor which is a designation of the National Career Development Association. I am a member of the National Career Development Association as well as the National Employment Counseling Association and over the years I have worked with hundreds of clients who have been interviewing for jobs and negotiating for salary and sorts of situations. So now let's talk about how you can negotiate your salary.
