Every Child By Two (ECBT) was founded by Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter and Former First Lady of Arkansas Betty Bumpers in 1991 as a result of the measles epidemic that killed over 120 people, many of them children. Carter and Bumpers have been working on immunizations since their husbands were governors in the early 70s and have been credited with the passage of laws mandating school-age vaccination requirements. The goals of ECBT are to raise awareness of the critical need for timely immunizations and to foster a systematic way to immunize all of America's children by age two. To forward its agenda, ECBT enlists the support of elected officials and their spouses, concerned community leaders, and representatives of many national organizations. ECBT also devotes a great deal of time to educating the public about the safety of our nation's vaccine supply through its Vaccinate Your Baby campaign. ECBT has valuable resources available on both of its websites -www.ecbt.org and www.vaccinateyourbaby.org

Amy Pisani: Hi! My name is Amy Pisani and I am the Executive Director of Every Child by Two.
Today, I am talking about vaccines. Our organization seeks to ensure that children are protected from vaccine preventable diseases through timely immunizations.
Vaccines have been held as one of the top Public Health Achievements of the 20th Century. Unlike people in many developing nations, we are extremely fortunate in the US to have vaccines that protect against so many life-threatening diseases.
Although, many people associate immunizations with children, they are not just for the young. Vaccines are also critical for both teens and adults. An immunization is not only protects those who receive them, they also protect the vulnerable people around them.
In this video series, we will discuss what vaccines should be administered during childhood, adolescence and adulthood. Then, we'll discuss the important reasons why you should encourage vaccinations for your entire family. We'll also enter some lingering questions about vaccine safety.
Lastly, we will discuss the dangerous of influenza virus and how to protect yourself and your family each for the season.
Before we begin the series, let me tell you a little bit about myself and Every Child by Two.
Our organization was founded in 1991 in response to a large measles outbreak that claimed the lives of nearly 125 people, many of whom were young children.
ECBTs founders Former First Lady of the United States Rosalynn Carter and Betty Bumpers, wife of Senator Dale Bumpers of Arkansas, have been working to ensure timely immunizations of children since the mid 1970s when they were serving as first ladies of their home states.
In my capacity as Executive Director since 1998, I have accompanied our founders on visits to dozens of states where we have overseen the development of critical programs and raising awareness of the benefits and safety of our nation's vaccines.
In addition, our organization has been instrumental in supporting policies aim at increasing access to and affordability of vaccines.
