Host: Do car modifications really work to save gas?

David Rizzo: No, no, no. Save your money, save it for gas. In fact the Auto Club has been doing test where they check some of these outlandish claims, get 60 miles per gallon in your pickup truck, wrong, it doesn't work. In fact even tinkering with your car on your own, let alone by in Aftermarket parts from the store, even tinkering with your car on your own is not a good idea. The engineers who design the cars, I guarantee you, they want you to get good gas mileage, they are bending over backwards. Once you start playing with the car and changing the mechanics of it, you can ruin any gains that they have sought for you. I know a lot of speed racer will buy a chip that they can put in the engine control unit that will speed up the car, give it higher Rpms but they are just going to ruin your gas mileage. So no, leave it stock, leave it alone if you are interested in saving gas.
