Romantic Dinner Dessert – Chocolate Covered Strawberries

    Javier Quiroga: Hello! My name is Javier Quiroga with To Your Taste Catering in Vienna, Virginia. And today we are showing you how to make a romantic dinner for two. Now I want to show you how to make the dessert which is chocolate covered strawberries. The ingredients you are going to need for this dessert are strawberries, while chocolate chips, dark-chocolate and then little bit of oil. We are doing a bain-marie, a double boiler. They have different names basically. A pot with the bowl on top and boiling water. That is all it is. And what you are doing, you heating up the bowl. So you can melt the chocolate. We have two of them going in here, one here, one here for the white and for the dark chocolate. Okay. So this were the water bowls. You can bring down the heat to about medium. Okay. And what we are going to do here, we are going to add one of them will be the dark chocolate alright. So we are going to put the dark chocolate right in there. Alright. Right in there. And mind you this is a great dessert, not very filling and it is very romantic. You know. It is, I mean when you think romance, you think of. I am putting the white ones in the other one, actually don't mix them together. Because then they will be together. With the whisk, I am going to whisk, just start melting the chocolate. Let me show you how that is going right there, see how that started to melt already. Okay.

    Just a little bit like that. And what you want to do. Once it starts melting, take it off the heat right there. So you don't. It is not overcooking the chocolates but it becomes little harder and brittle. With the different whisk, don't use the same one so otherwise you will mess up the colors. You do the white, Okay. The reason for the oil is, depends on the chocolate that you use. If use a finer chocolate and it's got more coco in it. It is going to be easier to melt but sometimes when they don't, they are not as easy to melt. I just had a little tiny bit of oil and what that also does, it makes the strawberries very shiny. In case, so very nice very shiny colors that you get on the strawberries. And they are easier to dip that way. Alright, so this chocolate right here. See this how it is. It is ready to go. Now for the fun part. I mean If I were you guys, I would do this together with your date. Makes it fun. You get your fingers dirty. Have some fun with it. The way you dip the strawberries. You pull the green part back, okay. So, it is kind of a little handle for you. You don't want any chocolates on the leaves, chocolates with leaves are not that very good. And then, you just dip the sides of the strawberries all the way around. All the way around like that. Alright. Take it out. And what I am turning out here into a piece of parchment paper so they don't stick, once they are dry. Okay. One right there. One right there. The whole thing again. You are right now and you just dip the whole way in like that. Just turn it. You will be surprised how strong this little green things are. You will be surprised, you know its like.


    It is not breaking still. Actually you won't know. They look pretty darn and good. If you guys have kids, you can do it with your kids, it is a fun thing to do. Because it is not playing with chocolates and you are saving money. Usually, these guys cost two dollars per strawberry. You guys know what I am talking about. Now I am going to show you guys a very neat trick with the white chocolate, okay. You can use a spoon, you can use a piping bag if you like to, just decorate really nice, but I like to do it, kind of like a neat way like this. Look at that, just like that. Back and forth, back and forth like that. Alright. Look at the strawberries. Would you picked it out for that? Yes, you would. I will give you my number. You can call me. Alright, now, we are going to go ahead and plate them down. Okay, on the thing. And you can make these strawberries way ahead of time, the same morning. I would do it the same day because the day before than the strawberries would hot chocolate there things are getting a little bit filthy in there. Okay. So you got your beautiful strawberry here. Okay. Beautiful strawberries here. Alright. And the other one right here. So there you have your chocolate covered strawberries.
