Special effects make up artist Christopher Patrick shares his top tips for designing the perfect Halloween makeup for your costume.

Christopher Patrick: Here are a couple of quick tips to make your Halloween makeup a lot easier. First off don't be afraid to use liquids latex. Liquid latex is extremely versatile; you can create all sorts of effects with it. You can put it into cotton, you can use it with tissue paper to create wrinkly ripped up skin, or you can use it directly on the skin if you are not allergic to it. It makes really realistic skin and trauma effects.

There are all sorts of bloods that you can use, you can find Stage Blood, Liquid Blood, Gel Blood, Scab Blood, but if you are going out to a party on Halloween and you don't want to touch up I would really recommend using Gel Blood, it's a lot thicker it stays in place and it stays looking wet all night long.

The last tip I would like to give you is about Spirit Gum. Spirit Gum is the number one most sold adhesive on the market and many people don't know how to use it. and it doesn't come with any directions. The thing to remember about Spirit Gum is it's like contact cement, you want to put it both on the skin and on whatever you are gluing on the skin be it a prosthetic thing you bought or a mustache or whatever you are going to stick on, let both things get tacky and then apply the two tacky surfaces together, you will get a great bond that will hold up all night long.
