S. adults say that they never engage in exercise, sports, or physically active hobbies. But, it's not just inactivity that hurts. Sedentary behavior, driving, watching television, playing video games, and using the computer is emerging as an independent risk factor for chronic health conditions, including diabetes, cancer, and heart disease.

Take a stand against too much sitting. Start now! Even if you have been active, now is a great time to start, because the benefits of exercise start when you start to move.

Regular activity, walking counts can lower weight, blood pressure, and cholesterol.

Exercise strengthens bones and also keeps depression and anxiety at bay.

Adult should aim for 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity per week. Trim TV time, even among active adults, lots of television viewing is still associated with poor metabolic health.

For children and adolescents, watching more than two hours per day is linked to unfavorable body composition, lower self-esteem, and decreased academic achievement.

Move more! People who move more often have healthier blood fat, and blood glucose levels than those who sit continuously.

Get active during your day. Choose the printer that's farthest away from your desk. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Get off one bus stop earlier or park away from your destination and walk. I'm Dr. Natasha. Live well!
