Florist Gerry Rogers discusses an appropriate budget for wedding flowers.

Gerry Rogers: Hi, My name is Gerry and I am with Petal's Edge Floral Design in Alexandria, Virginia. I am here to talk with you today about how to hire the right florist for your wedding, the next series of questions that I will answer has to do with probably one of the most troublesome parts of wedding, budgeting for the flowers.

Host: What is an appropriate budget for wedding flowers?

Gerry Rogers: Flowers are often more expensive than people anticipate, but a good rule of thumb is that wedding flowers will be a about 10% of your overall budget. Obviously, if you have a large number of bridesmaids or a very large wedding, this could go higher and it will depend too on what kind of florist you choose. If you choose someone's that more budget, you might end up spending less than 10%. If you choose a very high end wedding florist and have a lot of specialty props and custom things that you are ordering, then you might go way above that. But 10% is a good place to start.
