Political and public affairs analyst Ron Faucheux gives advice for people who have never run for office before including what personal and family considerations you should think about before running.

Host: What personal and family considerations should I think about before running for office?

Ron Faucheux: Before you run for office you really have to think about personal and family considerations and what impact that has on your personal life; what impact that has on your family life. If you were parent of small children, for example, how does it affect their situation, their lives? How does it affect your spouse if you are married? What is your personal financial situation? Can you afford to take the time? Can you afford to lose the income perhaps during a political campaign season to be able to run for office and then what impact does it have on your personal life thereafter? Because serving in most public offices is very demanding, very time consuming, it takes a lot of effort day in and day out, a seven days a week, 365 days a year and so you need to be prepared for that. Your family needs to be prepared for that because it takes a big effort on the part of not only the candidate, but political families when a member of their family goes into the political process.
