Host: What supplies are recommended in a pet emergency kit for dogs?

Lesa Miller: Well your dogs will need obviously a collar and leash and we want to make sure that you have identification tags and most especially a rabies tag. The tag and/or rabies certificate will indicate, that the dog is current on his rabies vaccination and we want to make sure that every dog is current on that. An emergency veterinarian, whoever you normally use, that will be good information to have. A microchip information if the dog chipped, we also recommend there is the photo of the animal, a good photo of the animal preferably with you in the photo as well, so that if we need to make a match at the event that we can do so.

Dogs will also need obviously food and water and their bowls to put that in. We recommend plastic bags for pickup and also any toys and treats that the dogs like and bedding, so that they are feeling as comfortable and as at home and have some familiar items with them.
