John Basedow: Hi, I am John Basedow and now that we just finished the French Press exercise, we are going to continue our focus on triceps training with one of my favorite exercises, which is the Triceps Cable Pushdown. You want to use a rope like I am using right here which helps each of your arms to work somewhat independently and you attach it to the high pulley or the high cable and while you are keeping your back straight, your feet about shoulder width apart, you are going to grasp the rope and then extend your arms down to the floor.
Start at your chest and extend down to the floor and sometimes you can even spread out the cable a little bit as you are going down and feel that whole movement keeping the tension on your triceps throughout the entire movement. You don't want to go fast like you see some people do or use a lot of momentum, you want to keep the tension on the muscle you are working throughout the entire movement, so always keep in your mind slow and controlled movement. This is one of the best exercises I have found for developing the triceps muscles. You want to do two sets of 10-15 reps and then we are going to go on to Biceps Cable Curls.
