Karolyn Warfel: I am Karolyn Warfel with Perky Pet wild birdfeeders. I am talking about how to create the backyard environment that's birds friendly. Now, we're going to talk about Birdscaping.

Birdscaping is a popular term that basically means optimizing your backyard, so that's naturally attractive to birds. One of the things to consider is food and I don't mean food from the feeder, but how to provide it naturally through berry bushes or even insects that make up a lot of the birds diets.

Water is also a key element to provide. By providing a clean, consistent source of water, you're bound to have birds back in your yard day after day. Another thing to consider is the shelter, and not necessarily a bird house, but also provide nesting materials for them like string, and yarn, and wool that will help them build their nest.

For most of all, you want to keep it natural, by providing a natural environment that may mean keeping your compost and your mulch in a discrete location, or allowing the occasional dead limb to be in your yard. You'll have a nice and attractive environment for all your birds.
