Christine: Hi! I am Christine with Merry Maids and today I am teaching you how to remove bathroom stains.
Rust stains in showers and tubs almost often caused by either hard water or by leaving something like a can of shaving cream on a wet surface.
One thing you can try is a pumice stone or a fine grit sand paper, but be sure to keep the surface wet so as not to scratch the finish, and this is only recommended for white porcelain tubs, or a product with oxalic acid will help remove rust. But be sure to check the care instructions to be sure it will be safe on the surface you are cleaning and if you want to try something more natural, you can sprinkle the stain with salt and then use lemon juice to soak the salt. Leave this on the stain overnight, it may take several applications.
You can also try making a paste out of hydrogen peroxide and cream of tartar. Let it sit on the stain for 30 minutes to an hour before rinsing. This may also take several applications.
I hope these tips will help you remove those rust stains in your showers and tubs. Next we will discuss mildew.
