This video series will demonstrate Capoeira. Here’s something new and exciting to watch and try out! Roberto will teach this unique Brazilian folk art called Capoeira.

Roberto Tapia: Hi, My name is Roberto Tapia. I am from Capoeira Sul da Bahia. People call me Bucho. Today, I am going to show you how to play Capoeira. I want to show you the basic steps, the basic acrobatic movements, the basic attacks and the basic defens of Capoeira. Also later I am going to show you the music, how to play the Berimbau, how to play Atabaque and how to play a Tambourine.

Capoeira is Afro-Brazilian blend of martial art, dance and music created by the slave Africans in Brazil during the 16th century. Participants form a roda (circle) and take turns playing instruments, singing and sparring in pairs in the center of the circle. The game is marked by fluid acrobatic play. Capoeira has evolved from one main form now referred to as Capoeira Angola and Capoeira Regional.

We are going to need a white pant, a white shirt and some tennis shoes. Some Capoeiristas practice with no shoes even with no T-shirts which is fine. To be safe, I suggest use all the time a mat and also make sure to be with some expert to help you with all your flips and your acrobatic movements.

I have been practicing Capoeira for 13 years and let's start it.
