Lauren Tjaden: Its really cool to see the whole city transformed. Everybody is in the party mode, everybody is in the adventure mode, thousands and thousands and thousands of people come from all over the world to see this event.
Majie Mirrett: I think it was about the allure of the pirates first coming in and growing things, giving you things.
Lauren Tjaden: So it was how many beads you can get.
Majie Mirrett: I think its fun to come down here and see the people and see people get so excited and really kind of embrace the quirkiness that we have here in Tampa with Gasparilla.
Male Speaker: The late 1800s Jose Gaspar came. The great city of Tampa, Florida which he invaded; they sent the Navy down to take him out; and Jose Gaspar, knowing he was going to lose, wrapped himself in chains and jumped to the bottom of Tampa Bay.
Lauren Tjaden: Well the parade is little crazy. Its Tampas version of Mardi Gras. The deal is they throw beads and you want to get the most beads you can possibly get. So I am still a little low on the beads meter but its just a good time.
