Tamara Smith: Being a Cuban and to make a design, bright colors have always been a part of my life. The district is definitely where I want to be because it brings together all of those wonderful things that come from my background and just come from being a kid from Miami. Oliver Sanchez: This is my studio; I am an artist, we are veterans of the neighborhood I grew up just ten blocks away in a much quieter time. I know the Design District for literally all my life or at least the most of it. It really is the nursery for the next generation of artists. Maria Ruiz: I think its really an urban setting; I think Miami is becoming the feel of a big city. When you come to the Design District you really get a flavor and a feel of what Miami is all about. Tamara Smith: Shopping in the Design District right now is reminding me of a combination of walking down the streets of London and then the flavor of Oakland in California and Harlem New York, sensory overload in the best way.
