Host: Does being overweight make me less healthy?
Sarah Alligood: Well, being overweight, it doesnt necessarily make you less healthy, but it does put you at increased risk for certain health problems. Health problems like certain cancers, heart disease, also problems like with breathing maybe when you are asleep, also your joints, your joints can have more stress on them when you are overweight. So that is -- you are at increased risk, but the great news is there are lots of easy ways to decrease your risk. For example, just losing a little bit of weight could really do the trick or maybe just getting a little more active, having some more physical activity in your life or maybe trying to have a little more of a balanced diet. For example, if you are not used to eating fruits and vegetables very often, try add a few more in and that could really help you out.
