Duck Tape’s craft expert shows how to create flowers, vases, and pens using duct tape.

Kristin: Hi! I am Kristin with Duck(r) brand and today I am going to show you how to make a really cool duct tape daisy.

First, to make the stem you can use either a straw or you can use a pipe cleaner, so lay it down. I am using green for the stem but you can use whatever color you would prefer. You can make as cool and crazy as you want. So just try to measure it about the same length as the pipe cleaner, tear the tape and then all you are going to do is you are going to put the tape down, take the pipe cleaner and lay it on to the tape. Roll the pipe cleaner into the tape, doesn't have to be perfect. So now we have our stem in place.

So the next step is we need to make the center of the flower, as you can see right here. What you are going to do is you are going to take about 6 inch piece of tape, just tear it, lay it down. You can take a utility knife, cut this tape in half, using the utility knife and then just make some squares. It doesn't have to be exact, and then one by one we are just going to pick those little squares up. And what you are going to do is you are just going to fold the corners down, and all you need to do is you need to make sure that there is a little bit of adhesive at the bottom. So then you take your little center piece of the flower and you just apply it to the stem. Real tight, you want it snug, and all you need to do is just continue that process so you have a really cool center piece of the flower.

So now that we have completed the center of the flower. We used 20-30 pieces of tape to create it. Next we are going to move on to the actual petals of the daisy. So to do that, what you want to do is you want to take about two pieces of 10 inch tape. Just lay it out flat like that.

So now I have my two pieces of tape to create the daisy petals and what I am going to do next is I am going to take the utility knife and just cut them in half, and then just cut them down the center. So that gives you about eight petals which is plenty to work with to create your daisy.

So next, I am just going to flip these pieces over and what you are going to want to do is you are going to want to take floral wire. Just take about three inches, you can eyeball it. Take a pair of wire cutters, go ahead and cut that. You are just going to want to stick the floral wire at the base of the tape. So you have the floral wire on the tape like that. You are going to fold it over, leave a little adhesive at the base of the tape.

Next, you are going to take a pair of scissors and you want to cut a petal shape into the tape. It doesn't have to be perfect, just nice little petal shape. So there we have a daisy petal, and what you are going to do, take your stem and center piece, use that adhesive at the bottom and just stick it at the base of the stem like so. Wrap it around and there you have a petal, the beginning of your daisy.

So what you are going to do is just repeat this step eight times and when we come back we'll show you what the daisy looks like.

So now that we applied all our petals to the daisy, the final step is to just apply some green tape to the bottom here to complete the look and just give it a nice polished clean flower. So to do that, real simple, take a couple pieces of tape and just wrap it around and that's it.

And some other really cool things that you can do. You can make pens and you can do bouquets, and also decorate vases with duct tape.

So that's how you make a duct tape daisy and just remember, there is a variety of colors and patterns available and you can change the size of your petals to make it individual and customize to your personality.
