Sports writer Gene Wang discusses the top fantasy football picks for 2008.

Gene Wang: Hi! I am Gene Wang, Fantasy Football Writer for The Washington Post and washingtonpost.

com. Welcome to my video on How to Play Fantasy Football?

In this clip, I am going to give you information that people have died trying to obtain the top five players in each position going into the 2008 football season.

Let's start with quarter back, because it is the most important position on the field.

Number one on that list is a no-brainier, it's Tom Brady of the New England Patriots, this guy threw 50 touchdown passes last year, set an NFL record. The Patriots are a pass-happy team, Tom Brady and Randy Moss, one of the best combinations in football history. If you have a chance to get Tom Brady, you should earlier in the first round.

Number two, quarter back Peyton Manning of Indianapolis Colts. Now, this guy for years was putting up numbers like Tom Brady. The difference between Tom Brady and Peyton Manning is very slim, but you can't go without the either one, I would put Brady just a bit ahead of Peyton Manning, but if you have a chance to get Peyton Manning, you should have no problem at quarter back. For the entire season, this guy is number two behind Brett Favre in consecutive games he started. He is never going to miss a start, he is injury-free and that's a very important thing to consider when drafting him quarter back.

Number three, Drew Brees of New Orleans Saints. The Saints love to throw the ball, and now that they have got Jeremy Shockley at tight end, Drew Brees is going to be that much better. Expect to get 30 plus touchdowns out of Brees, maybe 4,000 yards, this guy really knows how to throw a football.

Number four, Tony Romo of the Dallas Cowboys, he came much strong last year and is quickly becoming one of the lead Fantasy quarter backs, he threw 36 touchdowns last year and set multiple Dallas Cowboys passing records. He has a great receiving group around him, that offense is very well oiled, he scores a lot of points, Tony Romo is your number four Fantasy quarter back.

At number five, Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now, the Steelers historically are known as a running team, but last year on a new coach Mike Tomlin, they open up the offense and Ben Roethlisberger thrived. He has two great receivers in Hines Ward and Santonio Holmes, plus an emerging tight end and Heath Miller will expect Roethlisberger to put up big passing numbers again in both yards and touchdowns.

Now, let's move on to the running back, which to me is the most important position in Fantasy Football. The number one running back without question is LaDainian Tomlinson of the San Diego Chargers. He is the single season touchdown leader and this guy can score for you in three ways, he can rush for touchdowns, catch touchdowns and even throw an occasional touchdown. He is again the undisputed number one running back, and probably the undisputed number one player of Fantasy Football.

Number Two, last year's Rookie of the year Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings. He ran for 1300 yards last year as a Rookie and he missed a bunch of games. Imagine what he could have done if he had played a full season. This guy has a world of potential and could potentially unseed LaDainian Tomlinson as a #1 Fantasy player overall.

Number three, Brian Westbrook of the Philadelphia Eagles, the Eagles are going to be a team in contention throughout the whole season and Brian Westbrook is the majority of their offense. He is much like LaDainian Tomlinson of San Diego and that he can score by rushing and catching, and he is their first option because a wide receiver of course then he is going to produce yards catching and running the ball, he is going to be great all purpose guy, he is going to give you points in yard heavy leagues as well as touchdowns heavy leagues.

Number four, Joseph Addai of the Indianapolis Colts. Now, we all think that Colt is a passing team, but don't forget Joseph Addai scored 15 touchdowns last year, he can catch it and he can score by running the ball too, and he plays in a high-powered offense that scores a lot of points.

Number five, and that's Clinton Portis of the Washington Redskins. No matter what system this guy is he produces. He did it in Denver, he is doing in Washington. The Redskins have a new system this year which he is going to get the ball more and passes in its space, so expect him to have another big season.

Now let's talk about the wide receivers.

The number one wide receiver as I mentioned earlier when I was talking about the quarter backs Randy Moss. Now Randy Moss, the New England Patriots set a record last year for most touchdown catches, there is no reason I believe he is not going to have a similar season this year with Tom Brady, throwing him the ball. You can double -cover this guy but he soon can get open, he is one of the greatest receivers of our generation, hands down!

Number two is Terrell Owens of the Dallas Cowboys. This guy keeps going and going. He is in his 30s, but he still has produced year after year after year, say what you want -- about all his off the field attics every Sunday he shows up to play, he is going to get you 1300 yards, 15-16 touchdowns and now with Tony Romo as an emerging quarter back combination is going to be a very effective fantasy combination. Go get Terrell Owens if you can.

Number three, Reggie Wayne of the Indianapolis Colts. Now for many years Marvin Harrison was the number one and number two Fantasy receiver, but Marvin Harrison had his shared of injuries last year and Reggie Wayne has stepped up to be the number one wide receiver. Peyton Manning and Reggie Wayne is going to be a great combination. Reggie Wayne is going to get double figure touchdowns, he is going to have 30-40 yards receiving, he is a guy you should go get.

Number four, Braylon Edwards of the Cleveland Browns. Now this might be a surprise to some people but Braylon Edwards is one of the emerging young stars in the league, Derek Anderson is one of the emerging young stars in quarter back. Braylon Edwards clearly broke out last season, I expect him to have another great season this yearNumber five, Larry Fitzgerald of the Arizona Cardinals. This guy plays in a small market team but he produces big numbers every year. He has a new contract that he is happy with and even if it's Kurt Warner or Matt Leinart throwing the ball he is always a number one option, he can get open in double teams, he can get open in triple teams and they love to throw the ball in Arizona. He is the number five wide receiver in this year's Fantasy track.

So you filled out your quarter back, running back and wide receiver positions. You are half way there, you filled out the three most important parts of your team.

Now let's move onto tight end, kicker and defense. Secondary parts of your Fantasy team but still can be very important and help you win games.
