Researchers have discovered a 120,000 miles area of freshwater reserve below the seabed in Australia and say that there’s more where that came from.

Water scarcity has been a growing concern, but there’s now an ocean of hope. Australian researchers reported finding evidence of vast freshwater reserves trapped beneath the ocean floor.  There is so much of a reserve, researchers say it can sustain future generations from dwindling water sources.  They said there is 120,000 miles of low-salinity water is buried beneath the seabed on continental shelves off Australia, China, North America and South Africa.  Freshwater on Earth has been under increasing stress.  Forty percent of the world’s population lives in conditions of water scarcity.  They say these newly discovered water reserves could help alleviate alot of that.
