The U.S. Apple Association shares facts and recipe ideas for the Gala apple.

Female Speaker: It's the Gala apple and its bright colors are its trademark. Vivid yellow stripes and rosy red lines, tender and sweet, it's one of the juiciest apples you will find. These are great for snacking, salads, and quick cook dishes, like oatmeal apple pancakes.

The Gala is available across the country year-round. This very royal apple was created in New Zealand and named in honor of Queen Elizabeth II, who deemed it her favorite during a visit there.

My tip, for a crowd pleasing pairing, layer Fontina cheese and baked apple chicken sausage chips on apple slices and drizzle with sweet and salty caramel dip. It's a Gala of sweet, salty and savory flavors, and everyone is invited.
