This video will show how to prepare long hair for hair extensions.

Debra Hall: Hi my name is Debra Hall, this is Crystal that I am working on. Today we are here at Jon'Ric International Salon and Spa and I am going to demonstrate, how to do a Malaysian weave. What I am going to do is, I am going to add extra hair to get the more volume, more furriness to her hair and she is able to take a shower everyday, she is able to blow dry, she is able to curl, do whatever she want. This is 100% human hair. We are going to take 18 inch on to her hair today. What I am going to talk about today is braiding. I am going to part around her hair. I am going to leave some of hair out, because it would be natural. And as like I said, she can shampoo everyday, it's just human hair and she can blow dry, she can comb round brush and I am just going around in this part. That's around like a half of C and then you take the remaining of the hair and you clamp it to get it out of the way.

Now, what I am going to do is, I am going to take a thin layer of her hair. Now I am going to use extra hair to put into her hair, because she had long hair. Now, if she had real short hair, I would add extra hair for it to stay. But though she has long hair, I don't have to do that. I am going to leave some of her hair out in front here, so whenever the wind blow, you cannot tell or if she wants to put up a ponytail, it looks very natural.

So, I am going to leave, some of her hair out, right here in the corner and I am going to take a very thin, thin layer, it's like almost the size of a pin, not that much hair. And I am just going to use this here and I am going to this remaining of the hair and I am going to get that out of my way.

Okay, now what I will do is, I spray a little holding spray onto her hair to make it tighter and to grip. Because sometimes when you have very silky hair and you are going to braid it loosens up. So I am going to begin to start braiding and you don't have to braid really, really tight because you don't want to break the hair off, because you are going to braid on real thin. This braid is where we going to start to sew. And what I am going to do, I am going to braid all the way to the very back and I am going to stop right in the back and then I'll apply a new braid on this side. I don't braid all the way around, because the hairs aren't so long that if I braid it all the way around, I'll cut that hangs out, I will now have to overlap it. And then so and then it's going to be too bulky and you want to look as very natural as possible, you don't bulky braid.

Now, what I will do is, I braid it from one side to the other and we have to braid hanging. What I am going to do is, I am going to overlap this braid and I am going to start sewing from here and to this point here and now I will take this braid and pull over and overlap on this side and I am going take the braid and I am going to sew it in, so I can secure it tight. And then if she goes to shampoo it, it won't become a loose. Also I am using a blonde color thread, so I can match the color of her hair, you shall always use, if you're using black hair use black thread, if you're using like a brown color or dark blonde, you can use like a dark brown thread. And always use nylon, because it's strong. Do not use polyester, polyester will pop, it will thrall when you shampoo and it will pop and it will not hold the hair.

So what I am going to do is, I am going to overlap this braid, over to this side and I will begin to start the threading. I am going to start right that in, right here, where I start braiding. And this nylon, when you shampoo it will not thrall and it will not pop, you will have to cut it out, so it will last.

So make sure you get nylon thread and what I am doing is, I am going to knot it at the beginning, so it won't move right here. And I am just going to go ahead and thread right across here. What I will do is, -- I call it a cello rope. I am just going around, and around, and around not knotting, I am just going around and around.

So, I am going to do this all the way around her ahead. I am going to do the re-roll of this technique. When we get back I am going to show you, how to attach the wig hair onto the braid of hair when we get back.
