Vince Clingenpeel: I m Vince Clingenpeel, Home Inspector. We re talking about what you should expect from your inspections. First thing I do when I walk into the room is to check the light fixture, check the operation of the fan and now, walk with me over here. I ve checked a few windows. I ve looked at a few plugs. I have one right here, I m checking with my tester. Now I look behind the television and I notice there is a place where the termites have come through the house and that certainly is something that we re going to talk to the owner about, bring to their attention.

Then there is a fireplace, something that should always be checked. Looking up inside for the condition of the damper and throat and the first flue lining that you can almost always see; this looks in pretty good shape. Since, I used to build these things when I was much younger and prettier; I know that this is a fine fireplace and no need to bring it out to the attention of the owner. Now let s go look at the attic.
