Cathy Green: Hello! My name is Cathy Green. I'm the owner of UpperCrust Maids and today we are talking about how to professionally clean a home. In this segment we're going to concentrate on how to clean carpeted steps. There are some suppliers you're going to need, of course. You can use some types of a brush, doesn't matter what type. As long as it's a brush that can get into crevices, little corners, because if there are crumbs, you're going to need to sweep those crumbs out before you vacuum.
Secondly, you're going to need either a vacuum cleaner that has a crevice tool on it or you can invest in some type of Handheld Vac. Personally, I think you can clean it much quicker and more efficiently with the Handheld Vac. I love Handheld Vac for carpeted steps. So let's get started.
The first thing you need to do when you are preparing to clean carpeted steps, you need to eyeball the steps. And you need to look for loose pieces of large debris that you can pick up by hand and throw away. Now looking at these steps, I see one piece of loose debris. You also want to look for like pieces of paper, you want to look for crumbs.
These particular steps are actually in pretty good condition. I don't see any crumbs in here. If I did see crumbs, I will use my little brush and I would brush the crumbs out into the middle and then I would vacuum. But fortunately, there are no crumbs so I can put this away, and I still have my little piece of debris here to be thrown away. We can just go straight to the vacuum. Now this is what you want to do when you're vacuuming steps. You want to vacuum like the back part and the actual step itself.
My advice to you would be to start from left to right. You clean top to bottom, you clean left to right. You would start from the left-hand side, vacuum it over to the right, then you go down to the step itself, start on the left-hand side moving to the right. Very quick, very efficient, you will have a beautiful step.
Okay, so now you know how to appropriately clean carpeted step, you know how to professionally clean a home and I really hope that you've learned a lot from this video. Thank you for watching.
