Christine: Hi! I am Christine with Merry Maids, and today I am teaching you how to clean your home. In this segment, we'll discuss some tips to help keep your home looking great and also how to make cleaning simpler. Always dust before you vacuum, as you'll be knocking dust on the floor as you dust shelves, picture frames, and table tops. Keep as much dust as possible outside your home by installing sturdy mats outside and inside your home's entryways. The best way to keep hard surface floors looking good is to sweep or vacuum them regularly. Dust and dirt can get ground into hard surface floors, which can scratch them or make them look dull. Depending on the floor type and your home's uses, you may find that a dust mop, broom, or vacuum works best for you. Your carpets will also last longer if you vacuum them regularly. You shouldn't wait until they look like they need to be vacuumed. By then you've probably already got ground dirt into the carpet. You don't need a lot of products to clean your home. Nearly all items in your home can be cleaned with one of the following types of products or their green equivalent; an all-purpose cleaner, a floor cleaner, dust treatment, a glass cleaner, and an abrasive cleaner.
Now that we have discussed some cleaning basics, we are going to move into the kitchen and I am going to show how to make some green cleaning products.
