Christine: Hi! My name is Christine with Merry Maids, and today I am teaching you how to clean your home. People think green clean often means green cleaning products, but there are so many regular household items that you can use during your cleaning tasks.

A newspaper can be used for a streak free clean on windows and then can be recycled after they've dried again. Microfiber clothes are a great tool, because they can be washed and reused. Many times you don't even need to use a product on them. Citrus fruit make a wonderful room deodorizer. Peel an orange, take the orange peels and put them down your garbage disposal, turn the water on, run the garbage disposal, and it will release a fresh clean smell throughout the entire kitchen. An old sock can be used to slip over your hand, rubberband it, and slip onto a ruler, and are great with a multipurpose product to use, to reach those hard to reach places, nooks, and crannies.

A used fabric softener sheet still has a static charge and can be used to clean dust from television screens, computer screens, and other electronic devices. A toothbrush makes a great grout brush and can be used around grout and tile. It's also wonderful to use around the fixtures on a sink. A produce bag makes a wonderful scrubber. It can be used on your bathtubs, your shallow walls, even your stovetop. Just fold it together and clean as you would with a sponge. Used pantyhose also make a great nylon scrub brush. Again, it's a little abrasive, but a great tool to use on countertops.

A tennis ball can be cut and put on the tip of a broom and can be flipped over and used to clean the tile floors, and does a great job picking up scuff marks. It can also be used up high to catch cobwebs from the corners. Paintbrushes make wonderful tools for dusting inside the tiny crevices of certain areas, great for picture frames. And last, you can use a clean dry tennis shoe to scrape along furniture, to remove pet hair from cushions. I hope all of the information I have shared with you today will help you be more confident and know that you can more effectively clean your home.
