Host: How can I ensure copyright protection on my published book?
Jim Frey: One way of ensuring it forever in a day is once you have completed a manuscript you can do what's described in the industry is a Poor Man's Copyright. Make a copy of the manuscript; put it in a self addressed, stamped on below and mail it back to yourself and do not open it and hold that forever because by having the first stage cancel and unsealed envelope with your manuscript that book belongs to you. If you are dealing with established, reputable publishing companies, your copyright will be secured. As you have seen in the previous graphics, the registration of the copyright with the Library of Congress is done by most reputable book publishing firms.
