Elizabeth Rahavi: When you are managing the fat content of your diet, portion size is really important. If you are eating a guacamole or sour cream at a party, you can think about spooning out some of them onto your plate, so that you are not eating directly out of the bowl or jar. If you are eating out you can try ordering sauces and dressing on the side so that you are in control of the amount of extra fat that goes into your diet. If you are cooking at home, you can try cooking with a cooking spray instead of oil or butter, you can also trim the visible fat of the meat and poultry. You can also try using a low or no fat milk or cheese instead of one made with whole fat.
