Tutor Bernadette Chimner discusses how to prepare for the GRE.

Bernadette Chimner: My name is Bernadette. I am with Griffon Preparation Services and now I am talking with you about how to prepare for GRE.

Host: How much should I study for the GRE?

Bernadette Chimner: That depends a lot on how highly you need the score for your GRE. Some programs just require basic minimum score. So if you are really looking at a program like that where it is required for example for you to break a thousand, you want to go and download a practice test from gre.

org and see how you are scoring now. That will give you a good idea of how much you are going to need to practice.

Now if you need to bring one of those sections up by more than say 80 points you are going to need to give yourself, I would recommend at least a month and if you are going into one of those programs that's a lot more competitive like Veterinary school or Clinical psychology then you want to set aside a lot more time to study because you are going to need to score a lot higher, it's going to be very, very competitive.
