Miki Knowles: Hi! I am Miki Knowles and I am here with The National Watermelon Promotion Board. Today we are going to carve a watermelon snowman. For this, you will need three watermelons, two personal sized watermelon and a round seedless watermelon, a bowl and a scoop, a parry knife, chef's knife, melon baller with two sides if you can, some skewers, you will also need for decorations some twigs for the arms, a little scarf and a hat.
Before you get started, make sure you wash the watermelons in cool running water and pack them dry. For step one, you are going to cut a quarter of an inch of the bottom of each of the watermelons on the flat side.
After you have got them cut, so the smallest one aside for it's head, the medium will be the torso and the largest will be the body.
For step two, cut the tops off the large and medium watermelons to create balls and scoop out the flesh using an ice cream scoop. When you finish scooping out the balls, use the other side to make your melon balls. For step three, take the smallest watermelon that's not yet been cut, and scoop out the eyes using your melon baller, invert the melon balls and reinsert.
In step four, you are going to use a parry knife or your mini melon baller to create a hole for his nose and for his cute little mouth. Use a scrap of watermelon to cut a triangle for his nose and fill mouth with blueberries.
In step five, we are going to connect all three water melons together using large wooden skewers. In step six, insert Y shaped sticks into the torso to create arms. Fill the bottom sections with fruit salad and decorate him with a scarf and hat and you have a watermelon snowman.
