Michael: Hi! I am Michael with TTI. The manufacturer of Ryobi Power Tools. Today we are going to discuss how to select a Pressure Washer.

A pressure washer is just a pump, attached to a motor or an engine. It attaches to a water source, typically a garden hose, and pressurizes water for quick cleaning without manual scrubbing.

Pressure washer cleaning power is measured by Pounds Per Square Inch (PSI). This is the amount of pressure created to break up the dirt, and by Gallons Per Minute (GPM). This is the amount of water flow you use to wash dirt away. The higher the PSI and GPM the faster you can clean.

There are three main pressure washer categories: Electric, residential gas and commercial gas.

Electric pressure washers are designed for small projects and occasional use such as cleaning tires, grills and patio furniture. They are easy to start and low maintenance.

Residential gas pressure washers are designed for household projects and for individuals intending to use it more than a few times a year, such as cleaning windows, pavement and for paint pref. Residential gas pressure washers typically range from 2700 to 3100 PSI.

Commercial gas pressure washers are designed for big projects and are intended for everyday frequent use with a professional in mind. They penetrate the toughest dirt in ground and get the jobs done fastest. Commercial gas pressure washers typically range from 3100 to 4200 PSI.

There are pressure washer accessories to help get the job done quicker in these here, lets take a look at a few.

Surface cleaners clean up to four times faster than a standard nozzle. A job that typically takes two hours is reduced to 30 minutes; great for large horizontal surfaces such as driveways and walkways.

Turbo nozzles create a rotating pressure stream for more cleaning power by providing the power of a 0-degree nozzle with the coverage of a 40-degree nozzle.

Pivot couplers offer a versatile performance with three different cleaning angles to get hard to reach areas. Great for cleaning under items such as ATVs or overhead areas like gutters.

With these accessories and the right pressure washer for the job you will have things cleaned up in no time.
