Expert crappie guide Chris Bullock shows us how to count down a jig.

Chris Bullock: Hi! I am Chris Bullock, expert Crappie Guide here on beautiful Kerr Lake. What I want to talk to you about today is how to count down a jig. I use 6 pound test line, 8 ounce crappie jig and the same ratio is one foot per second. So if you want to reach the desired depth of 10 foot you'll make your caste when your jig hits the water, you close your bell with your hand then you start your count 1001, 1002, 1003 and so and until you get to 10 and then that's when you start to your retrieve.

The retrieve right is going to be about 4 seconds per handle revolution. And that would give the desired speed that you need to keep that jig coming straight instead coming back to the surface or back. And that's how you count down a jig.
