Jim Davis: Hi! I am Jim Davis for Harris Teeter. And I am going to show you how to cut and slice peppers. How to core a pepper - First of all, we are going to take our good sharp chef's knife, cut off the top of the pepper, turn it around, cut off the bottom end. You might want to save those parts and dice them up and put them in your refrigerator, save them for omelets. Now we are going to take a slice right down through the pepper. And we are going to run our knife along the ribs, cut them out. Now we have a cored pepper. How to slice a pepper - First, we are going to chop off the top of the pepper and the bottom of the pepper. Then we are just going to slice down through the inside and slice out that core, the center core, pull that out. Now we've got our whole pepper. We simply hold it and we slice it into beautiful red pepper rings. We garnish the salad or that favorite pasta salad. And that's how you make sliced pepper rings.
How to dice a pepper - First of all, we are going to cut off the bottom of the pepper. Then we are going to cut of the top of the pepper. And we're going to make a cut right down through the side wall and remove the inner core. Just roll it around, take that core out. We're going to remove that bitter white part there, that's just bitter if you eat it. Now, we are going to cut it into about half an inch wide slices. And it's much easier to cut a pepper on the inside rather than on the outside, because that outside shell is pretty hard to cut through. We take those slices we turn them around and we just simply dice them up in a quarter-inch dice. And that's how you dice a pepper.
