Break off a piece and using a teaspoon, just a regular teaspoon, pull it down over the peel and it peels right off. So that is how you peel fresh ginger. How to Grate GingerThis is a microplane grater. It's extremely sharp because it's laser-cut steel. Not expensive, and you can buy at any kitchen store.
We're going to use our ginger right against the grater, and just press it and run across it, and that gives us fresh grated ginger.
How To Chop GingerFirst of all, we peel it with our teaspoon. Get all the peeling off and we simply take it, slice it into chunks, slices about a quarter of an inch thick, and then slices over slices, into little sticks. Turn them around, and chop, and that is how you chop fresh ginger.
How To Slice GingerIf your recipe calls for either slice ginger or ginger coins, it is simply thin slices of ginger taken off of the palm of the hand, slice just like that. And that's how you slice ginger.
