Home design expert Sherry Tyra demonstrates how to add tasteful Irish decor to your home for St. Patrick’s Day cheer.

Sherry Tyra: Capture a little of the luck of the Irish by bringing a touch of the green into your own home. I am going to show you how to make some fun, and inexpensive decorations that go beyond the typical shamrocks.

Start small by incorporating a touch of green throughout your home with bowls of green apples or limes, a cozy green throw or clusters of green glassware. This candlescape was created by using green candles with some natural stones. I also incorporated some Irish glass for that extra special touch.

Irish bells are native to Ireland and instantly add a touch of green, and spring to your home. A plain eucalyptus reef can be an inexpensive purchase and by simply adding a festive bowl and some foam shamrocks, you've instantly created a holiday reef.

Turn a planter with Celtic essence into a topiary by using a wooden dowel and a Styrofoam ball covered with bright green daisies. There are some quick crafts you can do too. I have created this candy dish with an old planter, painted it black, filled it with gold foil chocolate coins and I have a pot of gold that any leprechaun would love to own.

This wall-hanging was made with shamrock cookie cutters and ribbon; so easy! For this wall art, I found the Celtic knot artwork on the internet, printed it up and dcoupaged it onto plywood squares. High-end Irish art with very little effort! With a little imagination and ingenuity, you too can create gorgeous Celtic inspired decorations for your own home.
