Hi, I am Jumi Kim of Capital Dream Cars. Today, I am going to show you how to drive a manual transmission car. By the end of this video series, you will know what the gear box and clutch are, how to turn the engine on and off, how to shift gears, how to drive downhill, uphill, around corners and in stop and go traffic and what to avoid when driving stick. To learn how to drive stick you will need a stick shift car you don't mind making mistakes on, an empty parking lot or a quiet road on which to practice and comfortable shoes with good traction.
Always remember to take the following safety precautions before you drive. Adjust your seat so you are close enough to press the clutch all the way down. Put on your seatbelt. Adjust your mirrors, stow any distractions like cellphones and do not drink any alcohol or medicines that will make you drowsy. Before we begin, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am Co-founder, President and CEO of Capital Dream Cars, Washington D.C.'s premier exotic car rental company. I have been driving stick for 15 years and regularly orient my clients to manual transmission cars. Although, I will be demonstrating how to drive stick shift in my company's Ferrari 360 Spider, the same principles of stick driving apply to any manual transmission vehicle. Like any new skill, the more you practice driving stick the better you will get at it. So, let's get started.
