Car expert Jumi Kim demonstrates how to get moving in a stick shift car.

Hi, I am Jumi of Capital Dream Cars. I have been showing you how to drive a manual transmission car and now, we are onto the very exciting step of actually moving and shifting some gears. My foot is on the brake right, now we are idling. Now, we are going to get moving. So, we are going to put our left foot on the clutch, put our gear in first, foot on the brake, left foot on the clutch, now you move your foot off the brake to the accelerator and as you give it gas, let out the clutch and we start moving. Once the tachometer reads between 2000-2,500 rpms press the clutch, shift into second gear and then repeat the same process for third and onwards. If you want more power and acceleration you can wait until the rpms are higher before shifting into a higher gear but you should know that your fuel economy will decrease if you do so. Now, that I have shown you how to actually shift gears, let us move on to how to slow down and downshift in your manual transmission car.
