Knitting expert Toni Lipe demonstrates how to knit a gauge swatch.

Toni Lipe: Hi! I am Toni Lipe with Toni's Design Studio. Today, I am going to talk about how to make a gauge swatch. We will talk about knitting a gauge swatch, solving gauge swatch problems, knitting needles, common yarn sizes, reading a yarn label and joining new yarn. We will end by finishing off the ends. You will need size ten, ten inch bamboo needles, a worsted weight yarn, scissors, measuring tape and a tapestry needle. Make sure you keep all of your supplies in your tote bag or basket so you don't hurt yourself or the things don't get broken and before we start let me tell you a little bit myself. I have received my undergraduate and my MBA from George Masson University. I have been knitting for 25 years and I have enjoyed going to classes, teaching classes, buying yarn, attending conferences and I am very excited to share my favorite craft with you. So let's get started.
