, I'm Linda Stahl with Hershey's kitchens. Today I'm going to be showing you, how to make Hershey's chocolate pie with Chocolate Petal Crust. To get started, we are going to first make the crust.
You will need one half cup of butter, one cup sugar, one egg and one teaspoon vanilla. We are going to beat these together until well, blended. Next, we are going to stir together, the one quarter cups flour, one half cup cocoa, three quarter teaspoon baking soda and one quarter teaspoon salt. We'll mix these together and once those are well blended, we're going to gradually blend that into our butter mixture. Once everything is well blended and it's starting to form together in a ball, you can at that point stop mixing and you are ready to shape it into your logs. Now that we have our dough mixed, I'm going to divide this into half and form each half into a log that's about seven inches long, and then we'll take each log, wrap it up in some wax paper. Once you have your rolls formed and wrapped, refrigerate several hours or until firm or overnight. Our dough is firm and I'm only going to be making one pie today, so I've just pulled out one of the rolls. The other one I'll leave in the refrigerator until I'm ready to make another pie. So what we're going to do is un-wrap this roll and then I'm going to cut this into slices that are approximately an eighth and an inch thick.
I'm going to start arranging them in a greased nine inch pie plate and what I usually try to do is, I will do the outside edges first, and for the outside edge, I try to get pieces that are a little bit more uniform. Once the outside portion has been filled in. I'm then going to fill in the bottom with the remaining pieces of dough.
So here's our pie crust already to go in the oven, it's going to be baked in the 375 degree Fahrenheit oven for 8 to 10 minutes. Our next step is to start preparing the filling. We're going to be mixing one an one-third cups Hershey's mini kisses milk chocolates, with one third cup milk. We're going to microwave that at 50 percent power for one minute, it might not be completed melted but that's all right because now, we're going to add one and a half cups of mini marshmallows and we're going to microwave this mixture for 30 seconds at 50 percent power.
Okay, it looks like this is ready just a few more stirs and I think all the marshmallows will be melted and then all we need to do is wait for this to cool to room temperature.
Well, we're finally to the point where we can start to put our pie together. The pie shell has been baked, it's cooled and you'll see that all those little spots have filled in during baking and the marshmallow and chocolate mixture has cooled to room temperature. So now, we're going to beat our whipping cream until it's stiff, and then that will be combined with our cool chocolate and marshmallow mixture. So now we're going to combine our stiffened whipped cream with the cooled chocolate marshmallow mixture. I'm going to start out, by putting just a small amount in there, and once this is evenly blended, you are ready to pour this into your pie shell. Now we are going to let this chill in the refrigerator for about four hours. Our pie has chilled for four hours, so now what we have to do is garnish.
I'm going to top it with a little bit of sweetened whipped cream and some additional Hershey's mini kisses milk chocolate. So that's how you make a Hershey's chocolate pie with chocolate petal crust. Enjoy.
